The story so far...
The idea of a body to represent and support community woodlands has been discussed several times over the last few years. In March 2008 woodland networking conference at CAT resolved to form a Community Woodland Forum for Wales, supported by Coed Lleol. A working group was set up in order to put develop the structure, governance and activities of the Forum, highlighting priorities and any potential problems.
At the first meeting of the working group in July 2008 it was decided to rename the forum the Wales Community Woodland Association, adopt a constitution and decide criteria for formal aims, objectives and membership. For further details download the minutes (PDF) from the meeting of the working group.
How to get involved
Is your group interested in becoming a member? Over the coming months we will be developing plans to take forward these ideas – please let us know how the new Association can help you achieve you ambitions for local community woodlands.
The working group extends an open invitation to individuals involved in community woodlands who wish to attend meetings and get involved.
Next meeting will be in Machynlleth on the 3rd November 2008
