B. 5) Establishing and Maintaining Partnerships

  • Ensure that partners have common goals

  • Don’t use sector specific terminology as this can be confusing and intimidating.

  • Agree on the distribution of responsibilities

  • Agree on procurement and allocation of funds

  • Draw up a Partnership Agreement

  • Develop an Action Plan

  • Build Service Users involvement into as much of the management and development of the service as possible

  • Maintain good communications between partners and hold regular meetings

  • Nominate a chair for the meetings and agree outputs and responsibilities

  • Take and agree minutes of each meeting

  • Undertake timetabled evaluations and ensure all partners receive credit for their participation.

  • The Princes Trust has produces a detailed report on Making Partnership Work as well as a summarised leaflet to highlight main points.
