NANTEOS AND PENPARCAU BIG DAY OUT

Press release

On Saturday 19 May, the sun came out for the Nanteos and Penparcau big day out, organised by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, in partnership with Aberystwyth & Penparcau Communities First.

The many attractions at Nanteos included wood turning with the Nanteos Woodland Group, a beekeeping display, and falconry with the Hawkeye Falconry group. Local woodlands managed by the Wildlife Trust and Nanteos Woodland Group were open for walks, and teas were served within the historic mansion building.

Around two hundred people attended the event, many of them making use of the Communities First sponsored shuttle bus from Penparcau, which conveyed everyone between the Nanteos estate and an Alternative Transport and Energy event being held at Neuadd Goffa in Penparcau, Aberystwyth.

Dr Lizzie Wilberforce, from the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, said, ‘It was a great day. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we were lucky with the weather. It was all about appreciating the local, natural environment and having fun at the same time’.

Dylan Lewis, Communities First Community Development Officer for Aberystwyth & Penparcau, who sponsored the event, said. ‘ ….The Nanteos and Penparcau ‘Big Day Out’ provided an invaluable opportunity for local residents to experience and appreciate what their local natural environment has to offer within the superb setting of the Nanteos estate.’
